Square white tile

The most traditional kitchen wall cladding has been a little out of fashion, but it’s back.

The simple square white tile has been recently used in beautiful kitchens, and variations in placement and grouting can make it look more modern.

The pros you already know: price, practicality and clean look. Cons? None, unless you don’t like the retro look and prefer something different.

The tile can be placed only on the backsplash or on all walls, and matches any type of flooring.

In spite of the traditional placement and white grout, the retro tiles have a modern context along with the countertop, faucet, cabinets and light fixtures.

Square decorative tiles

If you’re looking for a striking backsplash covering, there are endless designs and colors for simple square tiles.

They are more expensive than the white ones, but you shoudn’t cover a large area with such a vibrant tile anyway, so you won’t end up spending that much.

Rectangular white tiles (subway tiles)

Inspired by London’s subways, brick-shaped ceramics match any flooring and any decor style. As well as square white tiles, they are a great choice to match colored floor tiles.

Compared to the square ones, the disadvantage is they are more expensive.

Depending on the tile size, placement and grout, it can also get really different looks.
